daisygrip GmbH

daisygrip is the first hygienically reusable venous tourniquet and has a unique intuitive locking system. With daisygrip, every routine blood sample is taken time-efficiently and under hygienic conditions, without changing current treatment procedures.

  • Less germs: in-vitro-experiments show prevention of germ transport between patients (onsite disinfection)
  • Significant cost savings: disposable tourniquets or infections caused by conventional tourniquets cause significantly higher costs than using daisygrip
  • Reduced workload: the intuitive magnetic lock can be used quickly and reliably with one hand

GWA Hygiene

We are facing a global hygiene challenge. Every year thousands of people die as a consequence of hospital-acquired infections. Our hands are the transmission path number 1. However, only every second hand disinfection is actually done. GWA Hygiene’s IoT-solution tracks all the hand hygiene events to motivate healthcare professionals and to optimise processes in the hospital. By doing so, every existing dispenser is upgraded with a sensor module. Moreover, every caregiver gets a badge that is attached to the clothes. Hence, the infection control team of the hospital gets insightful data regarding the disinfection behavior of different job groups (e.g. physicians, nurses). Statistics display e.g. which dispensers are used more often and which are used rarely. Consequently, the system provides notifications if thresholds are exceeded. Ultimately, the hand hygiene monitoring contributes to the reduction of infection rates.

Nebula Biocides GmbH

Nebula Biocides GmbH was founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP). The startup is located in Greifswald, Germany and has five employees. With the aim of providing comprehensive protection against infectious pathogens, the company develops application-oriented disinfection solutions that reliably kill not only bacteria and viruses but also persistent bacterial spores. Their patent pending disinfection process Sporosan® is based on two starting components. When both components are mixed a strong and short-lived active agent is formed. Currently, the Nebula Biocides team is working on the medical device approval for washer disinfector applications. In the future, this will prevent infections with the dangerous hospital germ Clostridioides difficile, which leads to severe diarrhea and is often fatal, especially in previously ill patients.

neoplas med GmbH

neoplas med GmbH was founded in 2009 as a spin-off of the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology e. V. (INP) in Greifswald. The aspiring company develops products for medical applications based on plasma medicine research to meet patient’s needs. The first milestone is the CE-marked atmospheric pressure plasmajet kINPen® MED, which can be used for a wide range of acute and chronic wound indications as well as pathogen-related skin diseases.

Plasma is not the same – our unique benefits

  • High precision handling without contact to the wound and under visual control also in anatomically and pathologically demanding areas
  • 3-fold working principle:
  1. Effective inactivation of bacteria, fungi and viruses (including multi-resistant germs such as MRSA)
  2. Promotion of the microcirculation, thereby improving the oxygen and nutrient supply of the tissue
  3. Stimulation of the growth and regeneration processes of the tissue until possible wound closure
  • Targeted wounds treatments: surgical side infections (SSI), complex and out of treatment wounds, chronic wounds
  • No side effects and resistance formation
  • Consistent plasma quality with every treatment through argon gas
  • Easy to use, delegable to trained professional user

In terms of clinical effectiveness, the kINPen® MED is the world’s best evidence proven medical plasma device. Recently, it has been published the first placebo-controlled clinical trial. The results prove the successful application in diabetic foot ulcers resulting in reactivation and acceleration of wound healing (JAMA Network Open, Stratmann et al)
