Submariner – Sustainable Use of the Baltic Sea Marine Resources
For the SUBMARINER projects 19 institutions from eight nations cooperated in the search for solutions for the adaptation of innovative applications in the areas:
- Macro and micro algae, mussel industry
- Use of reed
- Aqua culture
- “Blue” biotech
- Energy generation from wave movement
as well as various combinations of the above. BioCon Valley coordinated the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern work packages. The project finished its funded project phase in September 2013.
As a result of the project a group of research institutions, public administrations, NGOs and business parks from all shores of the Baltic Sea took the initiative to institutionalise the SUBMARINER Network.The SUBMARINER Network for Blue Growth EEIG is institutionalised and registered as a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) with its seat in Berlin, Germany.
