St. Luke Health Path
Active and healthy
Experience Central-Europe's Northern region
The Nothern Netherlands, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Polish Baltic Coast have a lot in common - rich natural and cultural ressources, fabulous touristic and health infrastructures and a tradtion of cooperation.
Against this background the idea of a health touristic biking and hiking path connecting Noord-Nederland, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Polish Westpomeranian province was born. At the ScanBalt Forum in Groningen in October 2014 the idea found a lot of support.
At the 13th ScanBalt Forum Groningen/NL, October 8-10, 2014, the project draft for a Baltic Health Path was presented connecting the regions Noord-Holland, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/Germany and the Polish Baltic Sea coast.
As symbol of the "point zero" of the Baltic Health Path a traditional Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 'Strandkorb' beach chair was handed over to the Governor of the Province Drenthe within the framework of the cooperation agreement between BioCon Valley Initiative and the HANNN Healthy Aging Network Netherlands (»see fotos on Facebook).
Work in progress
A first project meeting with Dutch partners from the Drenthe region took place in February 2015. At this occasion the health path received the preliminary title "St. Luke's Health Path" establishing a link to the doctor and evangelist St. Luke.
